Our Mission is to eradicate poverty (from the inside-out) in the most vulnerable children.
A child born in poverty will most likely turn into an adult that remained in poverty.
Help us break this poverty cycle!
Children in impoverished communities have been raised believing that poverty is an external condition that happened to them, an unfortunate circumstance completely alien to them. Even if is “out of their control”, they believe it still gets to control everything about how they will do in life.
Sadly, we can’t influence under which conditions children are born… but we can influence the #1 factor that perpetuates poverty… the children’s mentality.
We believe that our external reality only gets to change to the extent that our internal reality does.
At Beyond Education, we’ve designed our programs entirely to transform children’s lives. As our students learn to set their own goals and discover their purpose, not only will their minds change, but so will their reality. Lesson by lesson, we aim to sprout curiosity and self-confidence in our learners, which will in turn reflect in their families, communities, and eventually the world.
How it started
Through AIESEC, our founder Daniela traveled to Nairobi, Kenya, to volunteer as a teacher in Kibera (Africa’s second largest slum). Her experience with the community showed her that even though education is a Universal Human Right, for children who are born in impoverished families it is only a privilege. Daniela’s students had to face all sorts of obstacles besides the lack of access to schooling. Issues like domestic violence and sexual abuse weren’t uncommon; making Education ever more necessary for them.
This was a heartbreaking experience but the ultimate impact that this experience had on Daniela was a strong reconnection with her life purpose since she got to experience firsthand how much children can transform by simply knowing they have someone around them that roots for them.
This experience combined with her work at Mindvalley and her own personal growth journey; helped her to understand that the journey to consciousness can begin much earlier on in life – So, Why waiting until adulthood when children can start learning practices such as mindfulness, habit-building, life-visioning, conscious manifestation from childhood? or Why even just limit this to the families that can afford it? When children in vulnerable conditions will be the ones who will especially benefit from it the most to overcome their challenging conditions.
She created Beyond Education with some of her closest friends because they knew that the way vulnerable children get educated today is utterly broken — and they could help in the mission of forming them by focusing on the key thing traditional education fails to teach us all… Empowerment.
